About Us

 The Oklahoma Arborists Association is a professional trade organization. We held our first official function in the summer of 2004, a tree climbing competition which was a huge success. A core group of quality members made this a positive experience.

Since that summer six years ago, interest and participation has grown substantially. Meetings are held bi-monthly and the public is always welcome and participation is encouraged.

Education within the tree care industry and the consuming public is one of our primary goals. We intend to accomplish this by dispensing information through books, tapes, videos, seminars, and newsletters.

Our primary concerns include industry standards, a code of ethics, and an aggressive safety program. We are also currently working on the "Oklahoma Approved Arborist" program, which will be a tool to implement many of the goals listed below.  This program is projected to launch in summer of 2011.

At OAA, we strive to

  • Stimulate greater public interest in the value of trees and the subsequent need for professional tree care;
  • Improve credibility of those who provide tree care;
  • Promote professionalism and profitability within the tree care industry;
  • Establish and promote closer communication between fellow arborists;
  • Study, recommend, and encourage legislation which will prevent malpractice, protect the public, and help to provide better service.

And, most importantly, we strive to improve the environment.

Separately, we are no match for the challenges we face as an industry, but
together, we can make a difference.
